    cough. your doctor should have given you a prescription. You should talk to your doctor about a expectorant if the flem is not loose enough to cough up.

    You have to first figure out your allergens and reduce exposure to them. I’m sure you already know common allergens, like dust, pollen, smoke, fumes, etc. Since you are having a lot of problems at night, try using a humidifier (be sure to use a filter as mold can increase your symptoms). Try to use an allergen reducing pillow case and matress pad. This should help.

    You need at least two types of inhalers:
    1. Rescue inhaler and/or a nebulizer to take as needed when you get in trouble (usually Albuterol)

    2. Controller medication(usually flovent, advair, asmacort, singulair)

    Take your controller medications whether you feel good or not.

    Visit your primary care doctor and ask for an “asthma action plan” and a “peak flow meter”. This plan will outline for you how to manage your asthma at home. They will explain to you how to use it.
