THis time of year children seem to catch everything going, I know that I have a similar problem with my son because he is always off school with one thing or another and I now have him on multi vitamins. To be honest tho if it had gone on for six weeks I would be concerned, so my advice would be to go back to the doctors and ask him to be referred to a paeditrician to get him checked out. I expect he/she is feeling really run down too having been un well for so long, six weeks is a long time for an adult to be unwell never mind a child. How old is he/she. insist that more tests are done tho . Im not saying its anything to worry about, it could just be a viral thing but you owe it to your child to make sure x good luck and let us all know how your child is x
Whenever you have a fever it is a definite sign of infection. Maybe he never really got rid of the strep. Im assuming they gave you antibiotcs for the strep, perhaps Amoxicillian?? Sometimes if you do not finish the ENTIRE bottle at the correct dosages, the infection will come back, and also if the Amoxicillian was not a strong enough antibiotic, it may go away and come back and you will need a stronger prescription antibiotic. I would say the fever is definitly a sign of infection, and the stomach pain could just be another viral infection on top of the strep throat coming back. Has he been able to keep fluids down?? You definitly want to make sure hes hydrated, Im not sure how old he is, but try giving him pedialyte, it keeps them hydrated. If hes not getting enough fluids, he will have to be in the hospital for sure! Has there been any change in his diet?? Perhaps hes having allergic reactions to a new kind of food? Just thinking about all the possibilites, however the fever and elevated white blood count is a sign of infection that his body is trying to fight off. Has the Dr prescribed any more antibiotics??
Sounds seriously like Pneumonia!!! Especially that you mention he was being treated for strep, and suffers stomach pains, vomiting, and prolonged fever. Pneumonia can be quite difficult to spot, many doctors even misdiagnosing it for influenza or another respiratory illness. I would be strongly pushing the point to your son’s doctors to have an extremely thorougher look. Tell them you want to know exactly what bacteria is in his system, or rather if it is a virus, don’t afraid to be pushy. I don’t mean to scare you but Pneumonia can to fatal! best of luck xx

You really need to talk to the Dr. about this, I’m sure nobody on here is even qualified to give a guess on it.
