Asthma-like symptoms? I’m not sure what you mean by that but if your cat is having breathing problems you need to get her to a veterinarian and not try to self-diagnose the problem. Also 5 lbs is VERY small for an adult cat. Is this a kitten? Upper respiratory problems in a kitten can go downhill fast. Please visit your veterinarian to get her a check up. Your vet can do allergy tests to see if your cat indeed is allergic to anything.

Lastly, your cat may not have asthma symptoms at all, but rather she may be trying to cough up a hairball. This is common to cats. You can help her out by giving her some Petromalt which will help her digest the cat hair. Also, you should brush her regularly so that the hairballs are minimized. Good luck.

I know gluten is a huge allergent but didn’t know there was a realtion to asthma. In any event it should be out of the system within a few days.
Many foods contain gluten epecially dry foods. You may wanjt to consider feeding canne foods that are totally grain free like wellness or merrick. Best of luck
